Medical device competitive landscape analysis

The Launchpad package gives an early-stage device team a sourced view of the competitors, how they position themselves, and where your product might differ. Fixed price, $999.

A clear view of the field before you build further

Medical device competitive landscape analysis answers a basic question: who else sells something like this, and how do they present it? Founders often have a partial list from memory. A structured review usually turns up companies, adjacent products, and positioning patterns that were not on the list.

Our Launchpad package is built for this stage. It costs $999, uses a fixed scope, and produces a written report with sources and assumptions shown.

For a device team the landscape also helps frame the product for buyers. Hospitals, clinics, and consumers each compare products on different dimensions, and the report notes which dimensions competitors emphasize in their own materials. That makes it easier to decide what to stress in early conversations and what to test further.

What the Launchpad package includes

  • A kickoff call to define the research question.
  • Competitive landscape and relevant comparable companies.
  • Competitor positioning and differentiation analysis.
  • Market context and key demand drivers.
  • A sourced written report, including assumptions.
  • A findings walkthrough and Q&A.
  • One round of revisions.

Launchpad does not include add-ons. If you want more, such as a one-page competitor matrix or a deeper review of a single competitor, add-ons are generally $250 each.

The kickoff call matters. We use it to pin down the device category, the intended user, and the decision the research should support, so the report answers a specific question and does not wander.

How competitors are compared

We start with your product concept and the problem it addresses, then identify direct competitors, indirect alternatives, and comparable companies. Each is profiled using public sources such as company materials, product documentation, and public registries. Where we infer something, such as a target segment, the report says so.

Positioning and differentiation are then laid side by side, so you can see where the field is crowded and where a distinction might matter to buyers. The demand context section covers what appears to drive purchasing in the category, again with sources.

Sources and assumptions are listed in the report so your team can check them or update them later.

Because Launchpad is a focused package, the report is short enough to circulate to a cofounder, an advisor, or an early investor. It also names the assumptions that deserve more testing, so the next step is clear.

What this analysis is and is not

It is business research. It does not provide regulatory, legal, medical, or investment advice, and it does not decide regulatory pathways or clearance outcomes. If you want public-source regulatory background for a device category, that is available as specialized work described on our expertise page, still without regulatory opinions.

Strategic considerations in a report are research-supported options and trade-offs. They are not guarantees, and the decisions stay with you.

The research uses public information. If a competitor does not publish pricing or performance data, the report says that it is not available instead of guessing.

See the format first

Our work page has independent samples, including a market brief on a continuous glucose monitoring category. These are samples ZKK created to show format and method. They are not client work.

If patents matter to your design, pair this with medical device patent landscape research. The Market + Patent Bundle is $2,149. If you will need sizing for investors, the market sizing work in the Growth package builds on the same landscape.

The samples show how competitors are profiled, how sources are cited, and how the demand context is written, so you can judge the format before committing.

Terms

Payment is 50% to start ($499.50 for Launchpad) and 50% on completion. Timelines are agreed during scoping. A mutual NDA is available. See services and pricing or book a discovery call.

The findings walkthrough is a live session where you can ask about any competitor or source. Many teams use it to decide whether to continue to Growth, add a patent landscape, or adjust the product concept first. If a smaller step is enough, we will say that on the discovery call.
